Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised (ABLLS-R)
Assessment is the most crucial part of designing an effective educational program. James Partington, Ph.D., BCBA designed a criterion-referenced assessment that task analyzes the skills necessary to communicate and learn from everyday experiences. The protocol is titled The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised (ABLLS-R) and provides parents, educators, and other professionals with critical information regarding your child’s current skills. The assessment includes a set of gridlines, which make for easier skill tracking and allows parents and professionals to view the child’s progress and acquisition of critical skills. It is based on the science of Applied Behavioral Analysis with Skinner's theory of Verbal Behavior along with research by Dr. Partington and includes 25 repertoire areas covering 544 skills. Furthermore, the ABLLS-R serves as both an assessment of skills as well as provides the educational team with information that may lead to more effective goal development for the child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The ABLLS-R comes with a guide for scoring and the process of how the skills can fit easily into a child’s IEP. These two books are a part of a series of publications from Behavior Analysts, Inc.
